Nikon AF-S ED 24mm F1.4G Wide Angle Lens is a high-performance lens compatible with the FX format. With a focal length of 24mm, it offers outstanding rendering with a fast maximum aperture of f/1.4. The most recent fixed focal-length lens well-matched with the FX format, the AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED lens is wide-angle lens with a maximum aperture of f/1.4. It offers advanced optical performance through exclusive Nikon technologies such as the application of Nano Crystal Coat and construction that includes ED and aspherical lens elements. When the lens is used with an FX-format digital-SLR camera, images that make the most of the fast aperture with large and pleasing blur characteristics can be captured for photos with dynamic perception.
The AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED features a exceptional optical design which provides enhanced image quality, with minimum distortion and outstanding edge to corner sharpness particularly at wider aperture settings. The new optical system combines Nikon's exclusive anti-reflection Nano Crystal coat, ED glass and aspherical lens elements to convey bright, high contrast image quality with minimized distortion and aberration. The f/1.4 aperture and nine blade rounded diaphragm contribute to render images with stunning NIKKOR trademark.
Build quality is up to expectations for a professional Nikkor lens, as is the overall finish of this lens. The magnesium alloy barrel is beautifully finished and weather- and dust proof sealing has been applied extensively, including around the lens mounting plate. Without its end caps, the lens measures 88.5 mm in length (excluding the lens hood) and has a diameter of 83 mm. IF (Internal Focusing) focuses images by moving internal elements without changing the length of lens barrel or rotating the front element.

AF-S Nikkor 24mm F/1.4G ED lens, a replacement for AF Nikkor 24mm f/2.8D, primarily is intended for Nikon's professional DSLRs like D3 and D700 series. When using on the prosumer or entry-level ones with an APS-C sized sensor such as D300s, D90, and D3000 among others, a crop-factor 1.5 is applied. However, a built-in silent wave motor (SWM) can make the focusing extremely silent on all cameras without distractive noise which otherwise is a case from AF-only lens.
