This is a wonderful machine that on the road fast small lightweight and durable. To get the most out of it follow the instructions here ie 2 GB RAM upgrade (to use the site essential for correct number of the RAM module (it should be PC6400 800 MHz no longer work.) Mine came with Windows 7 beginners might want to go higher. I updated my Windows 7 Enterprise (from work) which is similar to Windows 7 Ultimate. We recommend that you update the BIOS as well. 

I removed the software that came with it are bloatware. Upload your own software for this and treat you no problem. 

The only problem (well make that two) was wireless. Q: My only associated with the detection capabilities the network is not protected when you try to connect to a home network which is a non-Media Personal WPA2-AES 802.11n only network but not immediately. Update the latest drivers from Acer site wireless adapter (version 8.0.0.259) does not help. It took me two days to find a better driver from the manufacturer was installed and solved the problem immediately. So if you have this problem and find the Atheros chipset AR5B95 seek driver version 8.0.0.279. 

Which brings me to another complaint: customer service. These people are a bunch of idiots who are dumb jobs than their complaints with a series of standard samples copy and scripts plug in their responses. Why? In my email I said: ... the driver has been updated since the last 8.0.0.259 Acer support site ... I received this response (15 minutes): 

You can follow the link and update the wireless driver to solve the problem. 
[...] 

simply because my argument is Wireless: Can not connect! And there's no way to increase my problem to the next level. 

Another e-mail response from them is an idiot (Start Windows in Safe Mode and try !!!) wireless and then nothing. If you are someone who relies on the support of the manufacturer

Acer 10.1" Computer

I bought this computer back in Feb 2010 and it has worked over and above my expectations. I got it so I could take it with me on trips and not have to bogged down with a larger Laptop. It does everything I want to and connections to the internet are flawless. I would say to anyone who is looking to get something a little more smaller than a larger unit get this one and you wont be disappointed.. I upgraded to the full version of windows 7 Home Premium without a problem.. I also added the 2gigs of memory it recognized it without so much as a hiccup..

Great little laptop replacement

We got this little GEM a couple of weeks ago to replace our 5-year old Toshiba laptop for use when travelling. This is a great replacement--light, peppy and capable. 

This little machine does not have any where near the performance of the old Toshiba laptop (3GHz HT-P4 with 2GB RAM and a 1440x800 screen) but for checking email, surfing the internet, and reviewing photos it is just what I needed. 

The physical screen size is just fine, but the 1024x600 screen resolution makes it necessary to scroll around more than I would like--but this is just for activities away from my primary full-size desktop at home. 

All-in-all I would recommend the Acer Aspire One for the on-the-road activities that benefit from being connected.

Great product and Fast Pour Customer Service from India

Pros: This netbook is great, as advertised 8 hour battery life. I bought it for my wife for her birthday, she loves it because it is light and portable. I haven't used the camera yet. This computer loads up fast from a boot or sleep mode. I would recommend that anyone buy one, it has the fastest chip and best video controller for under $300. I am partial to HP products; however they wanted $379 for the same computer with the same specs. 
Cons: It is a fingerprint magnet; however she doesn't mind. 
I wish it had a external volume control, I hate the keyboard controlled volume, but I can live with it. 
Customer service tech support line goes to India and I can't understand most of them because of their accent. Bring back tech support to USA and it would help the economy.

Great Netbook

Pros. light, portable, Good battery, fast boot, bright screen 

Cons. No Bluetooth installed 

Great value. Use it for web surfing, E-mail and basic spreadsheet work. Added MS Office and Garmin map quest for updating GPS's and everything runs with no delays. 
Would defiantly recommend to others.

Move over, MacBook Pro!

I've been using this netbook for about a month and a half now (I purchased it on 1/11.) After dumping $500 into my MacBook Pro in a matter of months and then it breaking yet again, I decided to abandon Apple and search out something new. I knew I wanted something with a long enough battery life to get me through a full day of classes and one that's lightweight. I took the plunge on this netbook when there were zero reviews, and so far I'm happy. It weighs less than one of my textbooks and is far smaller than any of my textbooks. It does a fine job of keeping OpenOffice available to me for note taking while I plug away at Farmville and Cafe World. Ha. 
One of the things I love is that I can stop taking notes, close the netbook, wait about 2 seconds, and then put it in its neoprene sleeve to head out to my next class (no powering down.) when I get to my next class, I just open the netbook back up, and within seconds I'm back to where I left off. Start up time is super quick. The power brick is so tiny and lightweight. 
Things I don't care for are the very slick plastic around the screen, on the mouse, and where I rest the heels of my hands in between spurts of typing. They are constantly filthy. Sometimes when I'm bored in class, I draw designs in the goo (ew.) I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep some sort of microfiber wipe in the sleeve to wipe it down with every day or so. Also, after many, many hours of typing on this machine, I've noticed that my homekeys are getting shiny (meaning I'm wearing down the texturizing that's on the keys.) I may type more than the average person on this netbook, but I'm still surprised to see the keys showing signs of wear just 6 weeks in. I figure that within 6 months, the keys will be as shiny and slick as the bezeling around the screen. (I have a tendency to wear letters off of keyboards. I type hard and fast.) 
Another reviewer commented on the keyboard flexing and being rubbery. I'm not sure if I agree with that assessment. Like I said, I type hard, fast, and properly, but don't notice much flex. 
Overall, I'm happy with this machine. i haven't tried to upgrade the memory yet (but will soon.) I definitely recommend it!
