It must be noted here that there is a modest group of photographers who think that the only way to get quality images on a consistent basis must use only prime glass. That may not be the case for everybody, but it is surely agreed upon that prime lenses can be made with better quality than zoom lenses. And the Canon 100mm macro definitely fits the bill for prime with top quality output.
